WC/NNPG seeks timeline for Naga solution

DIMAPUR, FEB 24 (NPN):

Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (W/C, NNPG) has called for setting a realistic timeline to resolve the protracted Indo-Naga political issue, stating that continued delay only compounds the hardships faced by the people and impedes overall progress of society.
In a statement issued by its media cell following a recent joint consultation convened under the leadership of convener, ‘gen.’ (Retd.) MB Neokpao, W/C said senior leaders from all affiliates undertook an in-depth analysis of crucial issues confronting the Nagas and the emerging political landscape of the region.
Reiterating its commitment to an early and honourable solution, W/C stated that it would sincerely pursue inclusive political engagement among Naga political groups and stakeholders to ensure a consolidated approach towards comprehensive resolution of the Indo-Naga political issue.
It also expressed appreciation to former interlocutors and outgoing adviser (NE), MHA and Government of India representative AK Mishra for his endurance and patience in sustaining the peace process despite numerous challenges. It also conveyed confidence that the appointment of new Government of India representative Ajit Lal would add fresh momentum to the ongoing process.
W/C further congratulated ENPO on the successful execution of the agreement with Government of India for the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), expressing hope that equitable development and prosperity would soon become a reality in the eastern region.
It said the region, which has historically been at the forefront of the Naga struggle, should devote its energy and resources towards collective pursuit of an early political settlement.
On recent violent incidents within Naga families and other communities, W/C expressed sympathy with the victims and appealed to all concerned to abjure violence and initiate dialogue in true Christian spirit of forgiveness and acceptance.
