Working Committee (WC), NNPGs has accused T Ovung of being a habitual offender and alleged that was he being used by NSCN (I-M) to “dirty the clear flowing water in Nagaland”.
Stating that Ovung was oblivious to the noise in his name, WC in a statement, however, asserted that “cheap propaganda would not work in Nagaland anymore.”
Clarifying that NPGN/NNC headed by Shoba Lakhum Yimchunger and Z Hozheto Chophy was the legitimate NNPG involved in the ongoing political negotiations with Government of India (GoI) along with six others, WC said it had not come across anybody by the name of T Ovung leading any Naga political organisation at any point of time, “let alone a leader of an organisation”.
WC claimed that in all negotiations held following signing of the Agreed Position on November 27, 2017 there was nobody called T Ovung representing NPGN/NNC at the table in New Delhi or Dimapur. Ovung joining NSCN (I-M) and taking the name of NPGN/NNC was an act of foolishness, it added.
Asserting that all Naga civil society groups, tribes and village headmen knew that what GoI and WC, NNPGs had agreed in principle was honourable and acceptable to the people, the statement declared that it was too late for any leader or group to confuse “our people” through media publication.
