DIMAPUR, OCT 27 (NPN): Working Committee (W/C) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), led by convenor MB Neokpao Konyak, has taken serious exception to a statement issued by the Federal Republic Government of Nagaland (FRGN) on October 23, warning that it could create communal unrest and cause fear among Naga communities and students studying across India.
In a press release, W/C demanded that FRGN immediately withdraw the statement and tender an unqualified apology to the Naga people and non-Naga communities and entrepreneurs residing peacefully in Nagaland.
W/C described the group as a fringe outfit led by “desperate, self-seeking and self-styled characters” and accused it of misusing the Naga political issue for self-aggrandisement through what it termed tactics of terror and harassment. It asserted that the group’s presence and activities would not be tolerated in Naga-inhabited areas and called for those involved to be investigated, apprehended and punished befittingly to deter similar attempts in the future.
W/C also directed the group to disband within two weeks, warning of dire consequences if it failed to comply.
The committee appealed to the targeted communities to remain calm and promptly report any concerns to the W/C office for appropriate action.
