We recognise only Z Royim as NNC president: NNPGs WC

Working Committee (WC) of NNPGs has clarified that it only recognised Z Royim Yimchungru as legitimate president of NNC (parent body) and the group led by him and those under him.

In a statement, the committee said it was appalled at the manner in which few former NNC (parent body) members were appointing themselves as president or general secretary, after having been expelled from the organisation few days earlier.

According to the statement, V Nagi, then general secretary and co-convener of WC, was recalled from representing the group in peace talks in early 2018 owing to his “irrational and destructive behaviour” and subsequently, as per the Central Executive Council decision, he was replaced and NNC president endorsed Toshi Walling to represent the group as co -convener in the ongoing political talks.

Mentioning that it was a critical period in the political struggle of the Nagas, WD pointed out that appointing or elevating oneself as president or general secretary of NNC (parent body) would be an object of ridicule and have no basis as legitimate leaders were representing the group in the negotiating table.

WC further cautioned the terminated NNC members against publishing irresponsible statements at a time when NNPGs and Government of India were seriously engaged in negotiations to take the Indo-Naga political issue to a logical conclusion.
