
Women Cell of Unity College observed “International Day of Action for Women’s Health 2021” on May 28 by organising a webinar.
A press release by the college informed that webinar was held on the topics, “Quality Health Care-Access to Safe and Legal Abortion” and “Impact of COVID-19 in Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health: Uncovered stories” with professor L Emi Humtsoe of College of Nursing, CIHSR, Dimapur and Dr. Renbeni Yepthomi, pathologist, Good Health Diagnostic Center and Clinic, Dimapur as resource persons.
At the webinar, Humtsoe highlighted the growing cases of abortion all over the world and particularly in Nagaland. She spoke on the categories of unsafe abortion and safe abortion. Humtsoe also emphasized on the importance of maintaining “sanctity of life”.
Dr Renbeni spoke on the importance of maintaining women’s reproductive health. She spoke on various Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) such as, Human Papilloma virus, (HPV), Genital Herpes, HIV & AIDS, syphilis and such other related diseases.
Due to the lack of awareness and knowledge about the prevention and treatment, Dr. Renbeni said people are suffering silently.
