Website of photography club Dimapur launched by Abu Metha

Advisor to the chief minister, Abu Metha launched Photography Club Dimapur (PCD) website www.PCD.ORG.IN at Nagaland coffee shop, here, on Saturday.
The advisor, who was special invitee at the programme pointed out that “a picture and photograph can speak a thousand words”. On advancement of social media, the advisor said knowledge was available to everybody and there was no excuse for not knowing.
In this regard, he said people should use the information and power of social media to empower oneself to pursue dreams.
He said Nagaland in the past faced many challenges, but despite that, he said Nagas were able to succeed in many ways. “The success ratio has become much higher considering the challenges and the problems that we face”, he stated.
With regard to the photography festival which was discussed by the club, the advisor said it should be a “wholesome festival” celebrating the Naga way of life and asked them to use that platform to spread the goodness of Naga people.
The advisor said the festival which the club had envisioned should not only be an asset for the state. “As we have hornbill festivals, we want more festivals to grow in different fields so that Nagaland slogan of “Land of festival” is achieved in the true sense”, Metha stated.
Briefing about the club, PCD president Letminthang Kingpen said the club started in the year 2013 and comprised of 40 members at present.
The club inclines with the concept of organising photography festival called “The first Nagaland Photography festival” which has is scheduled to be held on August 19 and 20, in Dimapur. The event has been conceptualised with an objective to take Nagaland into World Photography map.
He said through the event, the club hopes to take the photography community to expose to better platforms.
He also said photography clubs will be inviting photographers from all over the North East. The event will comprise of seminar, workshops, interaction with renown photographers apart from stalls and participation from different communities.
He informed that the federation of India photography, an apex body of MHA photography will be assisting the club for the upcoming event. On the online photography competition, Kingpen said that it will comprise of four genres—color, monochrome, photo journalism and photo travels where everyone can participate. The event will be partnered with TaFMA.
Further, the president highlighted on the activities carried out by the club.
The programme was chaired by Veduvolu Khusoh, invocation was offered by Town Baptist Church pastor Vilodi Sakhrie and vote of thanks was proposed by PCD secretary Wati Jamir. The launching programme was also attended by TaFMA advisor Theja Meru.
