MMK condemns: The Mezomia Mechü Kehou (Mezomia Citizens’ Forum) has condemned the alleged physical assault on the elderly and respected member of the society by the two youth, which resulted in his death. In a statement, MMK vice-president Mhiesibeizo Vikhrie and joint secretary Khrisakuolie Khawakhrie urged the law enforcing agencies to immediately take up the matter and punish the culprits under relevant laws of the land.
Further, they warned that no bail should be permitted and that no individual/group should try to obtain bail for the two youth at any cost. Expressing anguish, they said they were extremely disturbed by the inhuman act of the two individuals at their prime of their lives — Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie of Kohima village– had physically assaulted Kezhalelie over no issue at Phoolbari bus/taxi stand around 4.40 p.m. on Saturday.
During the incident, they alleged that the victim’s son Thejavizo B Miasalhou was also assaulted when he tried to save his father from the two persons.
As a result of the injury, Kezhalelie was taken to Oking Hospital, Kohima, where he succumbed to his injuries around 3 am on Sunday. They said that Kezhalelie, who was the president of MMK and PA to DC Kohima, was an upright person, adding that taking away his life could never be compromised nor accepted.
Noting that Mezomia citizens had lost one of their finest leaders, they prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace. They also declared to fight until justice was delivered.
