Wildlife watch tower in Lephori

Wildlife watch tower at Khrokhropfu Community Reserved Forest in Lephori village, Phek, was inaugurated by DFO Phek, Rongsenlemla Imchen on February 12.
Presently, Khrokhropfu Forests is covered under biodiversity project sponsored by Forest Department. Under the project, the Biodiversity Management Committee in collaboration with Lephori JFMC had constructed three watch towers, a forest nursery for production of economically valued saplings and executed gap plantation covering an area of 200 ha.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the DFO has appreciated the village community for their conservation effort involving all local institutions and stressed on strict on-field implementation of the forest resolution passed by the council.
Meanwhile, the council chairman acknowledged the Forest Department especially the DFO for visiting the project site in phase wise manner and also for her inputs and guidance. Katiry, Range Officer, Meluri, also spoke on the occasion and Joshoury, Phokhungri Beat Officer, also attended the function.  Khrokhropfu Reserved was established in the year 1987 and notified by the Government, Department of Forests in 2008.
