Wildlife Week celebration 2025 observed at AHSS

DIMAPUR

Agape Higher Secondary School (AHSS), in partnership with the Dimapur Forest Division, organized a special event to mark Wildlife Week 2025 on October 6, 2025.
The annual celebration, observed nationwide from October 2 to 8, raises awareness on wildlife conservation, echoing this year’s theme, “Human Animal Coexistence” in our State.
The programme commenced with an invocation led by Iltoli Zhimomi, School Chaplain, setting an earnest tone for the gathering.
Beizo Suokhrie, DFO Dimapur, delivered the keynote address, underlining the importance of ecological balance and the responsibility of fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Student leaders Kerikul Lcho, School Captain (Class 12 Commerce), and Roviseno Terhuja, vice captain, shared their perspectives in a short speech session, reflecting youth commitment towards conservation efforts.
The highlight of the event was the declaration and distribution of prizes to winners of Painting Competition in line with the theme of the event. A total of five schools – Goodwin Higher Secondary School, Cosmopolitan High School, Government Higher Secondary School, Nagaland Central Public School, and Agape Higher Secondary School actively participated in the programme. Each school nominated 10 students to take part in the Painting Competition with the theme – “Human Animal Coexistence”. The competition provided a platform for young minds to showcase their talent while deepening their understanding of biodiversity conservation.
An interactive segment initiated by Dietholhoutuo Sesa, principal of AHSS encouraged lively discussion and encouragement to the participants present.
Kikavi Chophi, Range Officer (Chumoukedima Range), delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees, participants and Eco-club of the host school.
Following the structured programme, participants enjoyed refreshments and a special segment that included seedling distribution and a ceremonial plantation, reinforcing the message of stewardship and civic duty towards nature.
Chairperson I. Imtimendang Jamir, Forester-I, Chumoukedima Range, presided over the gathering and applauded the collaboration between schools and the forest administration, emphasizing the role of youth in championing the cause of wildlife conservation and sustainable living.
