Will not accept economic package based piecemeal solution: NSF

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has reiterated its earlier stand that the Nagas would “never accept an economic package based piecemeal solution”.
In a representation to the Prime Minister, NSF president Kegwayhun Tep and general secretary Süpuni Ng Philo stated that earlier Agreements and Accords, which were “imposed and superimposed” to bring in “so-called ‘peaceful solutions’”, only created more problems and conflicts, rather than solving the problems.
The federation said that the Nagas were looking forward to inherit the “inclusive, honorable and acceptable solution” basing on the unique history and situation of the Naga people as assured by the government of India.
However, NSF said that the policy of the government of India to “undo everything achieved through hard earned political negotiations has created great distrust in each one of our minds as we strive to uphold our God given identity.”
Further, the federation expressed apprehension that the “worst will happen” if the government of India failed to honour its commitment and exhibit its utmost sincerity by ensuring that the rights and dignity of the Naga People were upheld. NSF cautioned that the lack of commitment to “solve the problem in hand” would definitely prove counter-productive.
The federation has, therefore, reiterated its earlier stand that the Naga youth and students would “never accept an economic package based piecemeal solution”. NSF said Naga youth and students were “convinced that it is just another burnt cake with some fancy yet superficial icing on it.”
It stated that “such exercise will only eventually deepen the protracted Indo-Naga problem” rather than being the solution that the Naga people had long desired. “The failed agreements and accords of the past bear testimony to this assertion of ours,” NSF said.
NSF stated that the younger generation of the Nagas trust in the Prime Minister’s statesmanship to ensure that lasting peace and justice was brought about in Naga homeland through his “strong political will of solving the protracted Indo-Naga political issue.”
NSF said Nagas also have the highest faith in him and hold on to his declaration to the international communities that the South-East Asia’s longest running conflict was brought to its logical conclusion.
The federation has, therefore, appealed to the Prime Minister to translate the declaration into reality.
Claiming that various agencies of the government of India were playing “divisive role”, the NSF has appealed to the Prime Minister to “stop such elements from deepening the crisis which will only lead to a fall-out in the ongoing peace process”. NSF urged the Prime Minister to take direct control of the situation in letter and in spirit.
