Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) chief executive officer (CEO) Kezha Theunuo on Wednesday expressed happiness on bagging the Zonal Smart City Award (Northeast Zone) in the India Smart Cities Awards (ISCA) for 2022, announced by the Centre on August 25.
Addressing media persons in Kohima, the CEO said that winning the award has motivated the KSCDL to perform better in providing quality life to the citizens.
He said Kohima Smart City has been accredited as the top performer for outstanding contributions towards data governance by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and also credited in the top ten in three major intervention- Street for people, cycle for change and nurturing neighbourhood challenges.
Highlighting on the Smart city project, he pointed out delay in executing some of the projects due to the non-finalisation of projects, change of funding patterns and weather conditions.
The CEO also said that since the state cannot complete all the projects in the stipulated time, the ministry has extended another year and for which works on those unfinished projects have been started and scheduled to be completed within the timeframe.
He said KSCDL has also changed one of the project from Reinforced Cement Concrete to (RCC) pre-engineered building (PEB) and was scheduled to be completed within eight months.
The CEO further said that 34 projects have been completed and eight were in the process. He said five of projects will be completed by December this year and another three by February and March, 2024.
Those five projects include- Slum area development, rain water harvesting, battle tank development,mini sports complex and local ground at city centre.
The other three project were hotel building, commercial building multilevel parking at city centre.
The CEO said that the multi-level parking will be inaugurated before Hornbill Festival 2023.
He further informed that the completed pay and use toilets will be open to public within a month.
