The 4th edition of Mokokchung Winter Night Carnival 2023 got underway at the Town square (Police Point), Mokokchung on December 18. Organized by Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), around 100 stalls have been set up with varieties of food, music, games, kids play zone etc.
The carnival was inaugurated by Col Rahul Gurung KC, Commandant 12th Assam Rifles, Mokokchung. He lauded more youths participating in the carnival and reminded them that they were the strength and the torchbearers of the society.
He expressed the hope that the participating youths will excel in all fields as renowned sportspersons, Doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs and in other fields.
Earlier in the program, welcome note was delivered by Moasashi Jamir, president AMAM wherein he informed that the main motive behind the Carnival was to bring about an air of festivity to town and let the people explore and enjoy.
He informed that carnival will witness a special kids play zone where children can also enjoy the festivities.
He further said most of the stalls were manned by the youngsters giving them an opportunity for earning thereby inculcating the famous adage “dignity of labor”.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and Administrator Mokokchung Municipal Council, Chumlamo Humtsoe conveyed the season’s greetings to the gathering. Hailinator band enthralled the audience with a special song and a pipe band display by 12 Assam Rifles. The winter carnival will continue till December 23.
