GPRN/NSCN president, ‘gen.’ (retd) Neokpao Konyak said that “his government’s primary concern was solution for the Nagas of Nagaland and its unity”. Talking to Nagaland Post, Neokpao however maintained that “without transparency, there is no outcome; the confusion and apprehension has gripped the Nagas”.
In his first interview after taking over as GPRN/NSCN president, ‘gen.’ (retd) Neokpao Konyak said: “Consensus and inclusiveness of all factions and the Nagas will determine our fate and not just confined to any concerned faction or group”, while lamenting that “all the past Accords/Agreements led to bloodshed instead of peace or solution”.
GPRN/NSCN ato kilonser Kitovi Zhimomi and senior kilonser Kughalu Mulatonu was also present during the interview.
While stating that Muivah had “openly surrendered the integration during the top level consultative meeting at Naithu Resort”, Kitovi said Nagas of Nagaland now need to decide for any solution or outcome. He however assured solidarity with the NSCN (I-M) leadership if the framework agreement was made known and open to the Nagas.
“Practical approach is the need of the hour; restoration of peace and harmony; and the public consensus is the only answer for the Naga Political solution”, Kitovi added.
He further pointed out that even during the March 9 consultative meeting at Police Complex Chumukedima, chief minister T.R. Zeliang had told the gathering that he had no knowledge of the contents of the framework agreement/accord.
“However, TR Zeliang kept reminding that the accord will be beneficial to the Nagas”, recalled Kitovi, who reportedly urged the latter, “to pave way for the Nagas genuine political call and respond by resigning from the post.” He however said that they were yet to get any assurance.
“Our Naga political solution does not only concern the NPGs, but the general public voices and participation is very crucial for a collective/inclusive approach “, maintained Kitovi. He also challenged the leaders to admit their mistakes instead of confusing ourselves and the Nagas.
“We have knowingly and deliberately fallen prey to the divide and rule policies of the adversaries. It is the greatest challenge that would determine the fate of Naga political crisis and solution”, lamented Kitovi.
