Watsü Mungdang, Mokokchung (WMM) has questioned the silence and inaction of the law enforcement authorities regarding the suspicious death of a minor school boy from Ungma village in Dimapur on the September 18, 2019.
In a press note, WMM president Maonginla and general secretary Moanaro stated that the 15 year old was “declared to have committed suicide at the Aoyimti residence of former DGP, O. Alem, where the boy was staying under the guardianship of the former.”
WMM said when the victim’s body was examined by relatives, tell tale signs of physical trauma was evident, as opposed to the suicide claim.
“Circumstantial evidence point to foul play and the death made to look like a case of suicide,” WMM alleged.
In this regard, the Watsü Mungdang said it strongly condemned and question the suspicious nature in which the incident was swept under the carpet despite compelling evidence justifying police investigation as well as open declaration of the murder by different groups in the local dailies. WMM further maintained that the law enables police to probe the case suo motu.
