World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) was observed at Mon and Dimapur on May 31 under the theme, “Commit to Quit”.
Mon: WNTD was observed at DC’s conference hall, Mon. Speaking at the programme, DC Mon, Thavaseelan K stressed on the importance of making right choices and developing good habits over the bad ones. He appreciated the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Mon team for their hard work and efforts. Theme speaker, junior dental specialist, Dr. Neingutunuo shared on consumption and causes of tobacco. The programme also declared the winners of poster competition on tobacco where the first prize was bagged by Shikna, class XII, St John’s higher secondary school, Awa T.M Konyak, class IX from DBHSS bagged the second prize while the third went to Anglang S Konyak, class X from St Mary’s high school.
Dimapur: In Dimapur, the District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) organised an online art competition based on the 2021 theme. Altogether, 674 students from 52 tobacco free educational institutions participated in the competition. The DTCC Dimapur also organised online awareness webinars in collaboration with SBI Gram Seva Programme – AIDA Dimapur and Hollotoli School.
