Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF) has urged the Nagaland Police, especially Diphupar Police Station, to intensify investigation and deploy all necessary resources, including cyber tracing and surveillance, to ensure the safe return of 19-year-old Pesha Khiamniungan, a class 11 student, who went missing since the afternoon of May 24.
In a statement, the front also appealed all residents, youth groups, and civil society across Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts to assist with any information or sighting that might help locate the missing boy.
It urged local media to amplify the case too in the interest of public safety and child protection.
Western Naga Youth Front cited the FIR filed at Diphupar Police Station on May 28 that Pesha had been missing since the afternoon of May 24 after he left home around 1 pm to meet friends and never returned.
He was last seen riding a red scooty bearing registration number AS-12-G-6685, and his phone had remained unreachable since Saturday evening.
Noting that no progress had been achieved in tracing his whereabouts despite the family’s best efforts and now police involvement, the front said the lack of leads raised concern not just for the family but for the wider community.
Maintaining that the safety of every young person in the society must be a collective responsibility, the youth body appealed to everyone’s conscience that if anyone had any information that could assist in finding Pesha to contact Diphupar Police Station or reach out to his family directly at the phone numbers 8730842694 and 7085843044.
Western Naga Youth Front requested all concerned to remain alert and vigilant as growing cases of missing children were being reported in the state. “Let us not remain indifferent. Let us act swiftly and stand together for the safety of our children,” the youth body exhorted.
