Wokha district organizes level training and farmers award

DIMAPUR:

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wokha organized a District Level Farmers Training & Farmers Award on May 23, at the district fishery training hall with Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Civil Wokha, Echungbemo Erui, as a special guest.
A press release from deputy director T Subenthung Yanthan stated that altogether 50 farmers and seven ATMA officials attended the programme. Six individual farmers namely Chopathung, Thechamo, Nlumo, Yanpolo, Robin, Elhimomo and two SHG farmers group Myantha SHG and Thongtsio SHG comprising from seven blocks was awarded with certificate and cash. Addressing the gathering, Erui emphasized that farming is a noble profession and that farmers should never feel inferior or shy away about their works and as such farmers should be given a due respect. He shared personal stories from his childhood growing up around farming and urged parents to instill pride in their children reminding them that being a farmer is honorable. Erui also spoke about the importance of self-sustainable agriculture, highlighting the need for practices that ensure long term productivity and independence in farming.
Deputy project director, T Subenthung Yanthan spoke on the orientation and sensitization on the revised ATMA guideline 2025, followed by technical session where Elilo Kikon ATM spoke on the cultivation practices of BANANA while Nzanthung Ngullie delivered on cultivation practices on kharif vegetables crops.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Deputy project director Hukai Zhimomi and vote of thanks by Benthunglo Murry BTM. The programme ended with brief interaction and discussion.
