Wokha District TT C’ship concludes

Wokha District Table Tennis Championship and the Inter-School Table Tennis Championship concluded on September 13, at the Don Bosco Youth Centre. The event, organized by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA).
Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr. Chumben Murry graced the closing ceremony as the special guest, while president, Wokha District Badminton Association (WDBA), Dr. Jonsuthung Kithan, attended as the guest of honour.
In his address, Dr. Murry highlighted the importance of sports as a potential career avenue for young people, emphasizing the need for proper training and support. He urged the athletes to take their training seriously and encouraged associations to identify and nurture emerging talent. Dr. Murry also shared details about upcoming projects in the district, including the development of a multi-sporting arena, which will house a long-awaited football ground. He revealed that the government has already compensated for the ground, and plans are underway to create an AstroTurf facility at Longsa.
President of WDBA Dr. Jonsuthung Kithan, praised the WDTTA for revamping the association and maintaining the championship for three consecutive years.
In the boys’ singles, Haulim Sibo K. Chang emerged as the champion, with Mhon Thung N. Ezung finishing as the runner-up. The boys’ doubles title was claimed by Denngel Menmei Phom and Bibenthung L. Yanthan, with Bibenthung T. Kithan and Haulim Sibo K. Chang taking second place.
In the men’s singles, Nyanthung Ngullie was crowned champion, with Viluo Azasebetzo securing the runner-up spot. The men’s doubles title went to Mhasivi Miachieo and Seyievilie Seyie, while Zichumthung Ngullie and Menuolie Kire finished second.
In the masters category, Zachamo Ovung triumphed in the singles event, with T. Chipo Odyuo taking the runner-up position. The masters’ doubles title was claimed by Thechamo Kikon and Zachamo Ovung, while Y. Peter Humtior and Chandemo Patton finished in second place.
