Wokha DPDB pushes SDG-driven, eco plans

Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan has urged departments and agencies in Wokha district to align their development proposals with the vision of “Viksit@Wokha2047”, reflecting the national roadmap of Viksit Bharat@2047. He emphasized the need to incorporate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into district-level planning and submit action-based proposals to improve outcomes.
He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman, Vineet Kumar, and attended by Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA.
According to DPRO Wokha, the Forest Department presented reports on various activities:
Human-Elephant Conflict: Over 100 villages have reported elephant presence, with 60 marked as conflict zones. A control room is being proposed to address the issue. Crop damages include rice, arecanut, taro, and rubber.
Amur Falcon & JICA Project: Conservation efforts continue across 20 villages under the Japanese initiative.
Afforestation: Updates on Nagar Van Yojana and nursery development activities were shared.
Yanthan further highlighted Wokha’s need to improve its ranking on the Northeast SDG Index and called for collective efforts in planning and execution to ensure equitable progress.
