Wokha observes anti-leprosy day

Anti-leprosy day was observed on January 30 at CMO conference hall, Wokha.

A press release from CMO office stated that, during the programme, Dr. N. Mhonchan, zonal leprosy officer Wokha said that anti-leprosy day was celebrated since 2017 and it also marked the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who led a movement against the stigma of leprosy. Dr. N. Mhonchan also gave a powerpoint presentation of leprosy awareness activities carried out in the district since the past one year. 
Speaking at the programme, Imtinungla Longkumer, EAC Hq Wokha talked about the effects of leprosy and the deformities it causes. She also threw light on the stigma attached with leprosy in the society and added that 54 leprosy cases have been cured so far in the district. Later, officials and medical staffs took pledge for sparsh leprosy awareness campaign.
