Wokha, Phek hold monthly DPDB meetings

DIMAPUR: The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Wokha convened its monthly meeting on May 14 at the DC’s Conference Hall, chaired by advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan and Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao.
According to a DIPR report, addressing the members, advisor Mhathung Yanthan underscored the importance of DPDB meetings in shaping development activities. He urged departments to take discussions seriously, share ideas for an inclusive approach and prepare PowerPoint presentations to better highlight ongoing projects. He assured that institutional visits and departmental reviews would continue under his chairmanship to enhance effectiveness.
Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao, attending his first DPDB meeting, introduced himself and emphasized the need for regular attendance, cooperation and collective effort to drive progress in the district.
The meeting began with a review of the previous month’s discussions, particularly the identification of land for a new District Hospital. ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, chairman of the committee, briefed members on feasible locations for the hospital project.
Further deliberations focused on the Doyang Polytechnic Institution, where landslides and mudslides have posed serious threats to campus structures, faculty and students. With major buildings at risk of collapse, the house resolved to set up a committee to examine the situation and recommend immediate measures.
The shortage of NST bus services in Wokha district also came under discussion, with members highlighting its impact on connectivity to various villages.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to address pressing issues of infrastructure, education and public services to ensure sustainable development in the district.
DPDB Phek meeting reviews NH-29 road construction
The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Phek held its monthly meeting on May 14 at the DC’s Conference Hall, with key discussions centered on the ongoing construction of the Kohima–Jessami NH-29 two-lane road under Package-II and V.
Representatives from the road construction company, M/S Kaushal Sharma in joint venture with M/S Prachi Infra & Roads Pvt. Ltd, attended the meeting. Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division & Taxes and DPDB Chairman, Kudecho Khamo, along with Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu, MLA expressed concern over delays in completing the stretches. DC and vice chairman DPDB Phek, Rhosietho and SP Phek, Dr. Kaur also stressed the need for early completion.
The board directed the construction company to immediately resume pending works and complete the road within the current year. It cautioned both the company and NHIDCL officials that further delays would not be tolerated.
The meeting also reviewed the HSLC and HSSLC exam results of Government High Schools (GHS) and Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) in Phek district. The chairman commended three GHS and one GHSS for achieving 100% pass percentage in the 2026 examinations.
Additionally, the board welcomed newly posted officers and members, including Zapuno Khatso, ADC Chozuba; Seliya Tep, Assistant Sericulture Officer; and Kelhouzakie Chielie, District Horticulture Officer.
The session concluded with a collective resolve to expedite infrastructure projects and continue supporting educational achievements in the district.
