Woman in 60s trampled to death by wild elephant

In an unfortunate incident, an elderly lady in her 60s was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Chotulengri in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Friday morning.

Confirming the incident, Borlengri Area Villagers’ Union chairman Ningchetmeren said the lady was out for her routine morning at the ongoing four-lane road construction site at around 6 a.m., when a wild elephant charged at her and trampled her. According to an eyewitness account, when the lady saw two elephants coming towards her, she stood still in shock and did not move.
