Child Helpline- 1098 and Women Helpline-181 in the state of Nagaland has been integrated with the Emergency response Support System-112 (ERSS) on September 4.
A press release by Women Helpline-181, stated Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has been tasked with establishing a Women and Child Development (WCD) Control Room across India, automating Child Helpline-1098 and Women Helpline-181 and integrating them with ERSS.
In this connection, office of WCD Control Room has been set up and was inaugurated by secretary, department of Social Welfare and Mission Director Mission Vatsalya, Martha R Ritse.
In her speech, Ritse termed the inauguration of the centre as a celebration, and call to action. “It is a call to work towards a future where the safety and well-being of our women and children are non-negotiable priorities”, she stated.
Delivering key note address, director, department of Social Welfare and member secretary, State Child Protection Society (SCPS) – Mission Vatsalya, Tosheli Zhimomi, mentioned that earlier Childline was implemented by Chidline India NGO, but now it has come under Mission Vatsalya and implemented by Social Welfare Department Nagaland, as per the direction of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram, Ajay V said each state will have its own WCD Control Room to handle calls to 1098 and 181, which will then be directed to the relevant districts. Earlier the programme was chaired by Programme Manager State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA), Renchumi Imti, and welcome address by Addl. Secretary department of Social Welfare Bodeno S Colo and culminated with theory and practical training session for project Coordinator, Counsellor, Child Helpline Supervisors & Case Worker of DCPU Child Helpline.
