Women church leaders join ‘Naari Leads Swachhata’

DIMAPUR: A total of 84 women leaders representing various churches across Dimapur participated in the “Naari Leads Swachhata – Faith Based One Day Action Summit” organised by Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.
According to a press release, the summit sought to empower women as key drivers of behavioural change in promoting cleanliness, waste segregation, plastic reduction and environmental stewardship within homes, churches and communities.
Delivering the special address on “Naari Shakti in Swachhata”, retired commissioner and secretary, L.H. Thangi Mannen, highlighted the vital role of women in protecting the environment and leading community action for a cleaner and greener society. Adrian M. Mahung, consultant to DMC for Waste Management, conducted a practical session on Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, household waste segregation, home composting and plastic reduction strategies.
Participants were also trained to conduct awareness programmes within their churches and neighbourhoods. As part of the initiative, each participant was provided with a segregation bin and a Swachhata Leader Handbook to support implementation and replication of lessons learned through church fellowships, community outreach and household awareness campaigns.
