Block Task Force, Sakshi Circle under Longleng district conducted an awareness and sensitization program on Women & Girl Child Rights under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign on September 23, at Yangching Baptist Church with Longleng MSK’s women welfare officer, P. Phungla Phom, as the resource person.
According to DIPR, Robi Sangtam, EAC Longleng & incharge of Sakshi circle exhorted the villagers on the topic empowerment of the women & girl child.
He urged upon the gathering to provide quality education to girls and empower womenfolk to bring positive change in society.
Speaking on the topic ‘Women & Girl Child Rights” the resource person spoke on important Acts framed to protect women and girls and highlighted government schemes introduced to uplift women & girls.
The highlights of the program include distribution of IEC materials in the Phom dialect, entertainment, distribution of sweets & biscuits to women and girl child and a lumpsum amount was also given to the most underprivileged girl students.
The program was attended by more than 400 participants and was chaired by Esther Phom, district coordinator MSK, Longleng. Invocation was said by Yangching Baptist Church’s (YBC’s) pastor. The function culminated with a benediction said by Women Pastor YBC.
