A one-day workshop titled, ‘Navigating the journey together’ for families of persons with disabilities was held at the DC Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on March 18, 2026.
According to DIPR report, the programme was jointly organised by the office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) Department of Social Welfare Nagaland, Kohima, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto.
The workshop aimed to create awareness, provide guidance, and strengthen support systems for families of persons with disabilities. The event brought together officials, experts, and participants to discuss key issues and share experiences.
Supervisor SCPD, Ruvuorienuo Juliana hosted the programme, while, Program Coordinator SCPD, Ashe Kiba delivered a session on ‘Navigating the Journey Together.’ Program Officer SCPD, Viketukho Nakhro spoke on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, highlighting legal provisions and entitlements.
Short speeches were delivered by Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Dharam Raj and welfare Inspector, H. Sasuli Sumi who emphasised the importance of inclusive development and community support.
Senior psychologist from the Department of Developmental Pediatrics, CIHSR Chumoukedima, Orentsani N Kithan conducted a session on ‘Navigating through Emotions and Stress,’ addressing the psychological challenges faced by families and caregivers.
The programme concluded with an open discussion, allowing participants to interact with experts and share their concerns.
