Workshop held on sexual harassment of women at workplace

The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) had organized workshop on sexual harassment of women at workplace, from March 26 to 27 at Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI), Kohima and District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Chiechama. 
In a press note the SRCW stated that it has been empanelled by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI to impart training programmes/workshop on the above cited Act and some of the key information provided during the workshop were for women working in organized/unorganized/public/private sectors; Supreme Court has defined sexual harassment as physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct;  for redressing of complaints relating to sexual harassment of women at workplace, every organization private or public should have an Internal Complaints Committee; however an organization private or public that has less than 10 number of employees shall fall under the jurisdiction of the Local Complaints Committee constituted by the deputy commissioner at the district level; SHe- Box (Sexual harassment electronic- Box), an initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI, is an online complaint management System. Complaints can be registered at www.shebox.nic.in <http://www.shebox.nic.in> and victims may call Women Helpline (WHL)- 181, a 24 x7 toll free number catering to women in distress or Visit  Sakhi – One Stop Centers  located in Kohima and Dimapur.
The resource persons were Gracy Ayee, Meneno V, Lanuienla Imchen, Renthunglo Kikon and Jitsiasa Nyusou  from SRCW and WHL- 181. IEC materials were also disseminated. Others who spoke included GPI Kohima principal, Keyiekhru Rhutso and vice-principal DIET, Chiechama.
