A one-day state level workshop for sensitization on benchmark disabilities and identification of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the state was held on August 31 at Japfu Hotel, Kohima. The workshop was organised by office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland in partnership with Health & Family Welfare Department and Social Welfare Department.
A press release from CEO office informed that the workshop was organized as part of the SVEEP initiative to address the issues and challenges faced in regard to identification and registration of PwDs in the electoral roll and sensitization of benchmark disabilities in the State. The main purpose of the workshop was to provide a platform for the three departments to come together to discuss these key issues and to collectively work towards inclusive and accessible elections.
The guest of honour was State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro while the resource persons were joint CEO, Awa Lorin; state counsel, Social Welfare Department, Apila Sangtam and deputy director (Nodal Officer, Disability) Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Nitovi Shikhu.
The programme was chaired and moderated by joint CEO Nagaland, Sharon Longchari; introductory address was delivered by CEO (O), Ruokuovituo Khezhie; short addresses from Director (Dental) DHFW Dr. Chekroshuyi Tetseo and additional secretary, Social Welfare Department, Bodeno S. Colo.
The workshop was attended by district level officers from Health & Family Welfare Department and Social Welfare Department from the various districts.
