Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)—Nagaland branch and National TB Elimination Program (NTEP) under Central TB Division (CTD), ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW) jointly conducted a workshop on “Childhood Tuberculosis Training” at Zion hospital and research centre Dimapur, on June 24.
According to a press release, guest of honour, principal director (PD), H&FW, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi stressed on the need to focus on TB associated with HIV and to focus on Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).
Meanwhile, observer from Nagaland Medical Council (NMC), chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. Moatemjen spoke on the burden of TB in the state and exhorted the doctors.
Further, NTEP workshop coordinator and treasurer IAP Nagaland, Dr. Akumtoshi spoke on diagnostic approach of TB in children.
Other speakers included—consultant paediatrician, Dr. Zubenthung Kithan from Faith hospital, consultant paediatrician, Dr. Wonashi from CIHSR, Dr. Deepak Jain, and DTO, Dr. Benchilo who covered topics on—approach to treatment and case scenarios in tuberculosis, importance of case reporting and explained different incentives provided by the government.
Later, general secretary, IAP Nagaland and consultant at Dimapur district hospital, Dr. Wapang Imchen proposed vote of thanks.
