Workshop on content development under NEP 2020

A two-day workshop on “Content and Curriculum Development in the Spirit of NEP 2020” was held at the Golden Jubilee Mini Auditorium, NEHU, Shillong from May 1 and 2, with an aimed to align educational practices with the vision outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
At the workshop, experts, educators, and stakeholders deliberated on crucial aspects of curriculum design and implementation


Kiran Hazarika, Pro Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, emphasized the significance of preserving North-Eastern languages as part of the cultural identity in his lecture entitled “Inner Connection and Development of NE Region Languages and Linguistics”. He advocated for a three-language education system, highlighting its potential benefits for students’ future careers.


Prof. Devesh Walia, Dean of the School of Human and Environmental Sciences at NEHU, underscored the importance of vocational education. He urged educators to recognize and nurture the unique capabilities of each student while talking about the “Innovations in Teaching & Pedagogy and Stakeholders’ Engagement in NEP 2020”.
Prof. B. B. Karbirymbai, Head of the Department of Education, NEHU spoke about the “Competency-Based Curriculum Design and Assessment Strategies”. She discussed the pivotal role of curriculum design.
The valedictory session commenced with an address by chief guest, Kiran Hazarika, Pro Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and highlighted how successful policy implementation could significantly reduce dropout rates across the country. Certificates were distributed to workshop participants by Prof. Kiran Hazarika and Prof. B. B. Kharbirymbai.
