Workshop on decoupage, a skill development training for women and girls under Phek district, was organised by the Phek district administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao on May 31 at Phek Town Council Hall.
A press release from Phek district administration stated that during the workshop,DC Phek, John Tsulisie Sangtam, said the objective of the workshop was to empower women through skills development and to make them economically independent and self-reliant. Stating that women are the backbone of the family’s economy, he encouraged the trainees to be sincere, dedicated, and to make the best use of the skills received during the workshop. The resource person, Hobbylane@2020, proprietress, Diethoseno Whiso, spoke on decoupage, its uses and applicability, and encouraged the trainees to have hobbies that can support them financially.
35 trainees attended the workshop. The participants decoupaged on straw baskets, wooden spoons and tea coasters. The programme was chaired by district mission coordinator of DHEW Phek, Vilenuo Kapu.
