Workshop on endangered crafts engages 83 students in Dimapur

DIMAPUR

The INTACH Nagaland Chapter, in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture, organized a workshop on endangered arts and crafts on October 15, 2025 at the NEZCC premises, Dimapur.
According to Sentila T. Yanger, State Convener, INTACH Nagaland Chapter, the workshop aimed to introduce school children to the region’s rich craft heritage, with a special focus on bamboo mat weaving—a traditional skill at risk of fading away.
Two experienced craft practitioners led hands-on sessions, allowing students to engage directly with the art form.
A total of 83 students from eight schools participated in the programme: Christina Memorial Hr. Sec. School, Amazing School, Charis High Academy, Christian Hr. Sec. School, St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School, El-Shaddai Academy, Little Star Hr. Sec. School, and The Maple Tree School.
The event concluded with a cultural show hosted by NEZCC, which was well received by the students. Participation certificates were awarded to all attendees by NEZCC Director, Dr. Prashanna Gogoi.
INTACH Nagaland Chapter expressed gratitude to NEZCC and the participating schools for their support in promoting traditional craft awareness among youth.
