A workshop on indigenous women livelihood and organic farming was held on November 11 at Niuland.
The workshop was organised by Naga Indigenous Women Network (NIWN) in collaboration with Sumi Totomi Hoho (STH) Dimapur supported by Henry Martin Institute, Hyderabad.
A press release by the organisers stated that workshop focused on the importance of organic farming and health where farmers as well as people were made aware of the difference of food and poison in the form of pesticides.
The release stated that the workshop deliberated on effective farming such as seed selection, nursery bed preparation, transplanting, selection of crops/vegetables, crop type and compatibility, identification of pests and pests control measures.
Health benefits of different types of vegetables and fruits and how to make composting with eco-friendly and locally available materials was also discussed during the workshop on on indigenous women livelihood and organic farming.
