Office of the District Cultural Officer, Kiphire, under the Department of Art & Culture, organized a one-day workshop under the Living Morung Project at Kiphire village on February 17, with participation from villagers of Langkok and Longthonger.
According to DIPR report, the workshop, which emphasized traditional crafts and weaving, was graced by Tsidongchem, chairman of Kiphire Village, as special guest.
In his address, District Cultural Officer, Moses Newmai highlighted the importance of embracing one’s culture and identity irrespective of age, social status, or the influence of western culture.
Head GB of Kiphire village, Tsalimong, narrated the history of the village’s migration and spoke on the significance of the morung, stressing the relevance of handicrafts and weaving in today’s generation.
The programme was chaired by Rebeca, LDA, while the welcome address was delivered by Vilila Pojar, ARO Kiphire. Resource persons included Thsaopi Sangtam (crafts) and Zuzila Sangtam (weaving), who shared insights and skills with the participants.
