A two-day training programme on “Packaging of agricultural products” packaging and technology for farmer producers companies and entrepreneurs of MOVCDNER was organised by department of Agriculture Nagaland (DoA) on February 7 and 8 at State Agricultural Extension & Management Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema.
A press release from DoA stated that resource person, assistant director, Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Kolkata centre, N Nataraj spoke on basic concepts, principals and functions of packaging for agriculture products, flexible packaging, new trends for packaging of agriculture products, packaging of fruits and vegetables and packaging of spices.
In technical session, resource person technical officer, IIP, Saroj kumar Meher spoke on corrugated fibreboard fox transport pack for agricultural product, testing and evolution packaging materials used for products and to lay down optimum specification of plastic films and laminate for food industries.
Inaugural programme was chaired by deputy director DoA, Dr. James Chawang while PMU, MOVCDNER, Sanjay Kumar delivered a brief note on importance of packaging of agriculture products and its technology for FPO/FPC. Key note address was given by joint director DoA, Remphamo Lotha.
