Workshop on quality healthcare

DIMAPUR: District Health Society, Mon conducted a two day workshop on “Strengthening Quality Healthcare through National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Implementation” at the CMO’s office conference hall on June 11 and 12, 2026.
The programme aimed to enhance healthcare services across facilities and accelerate progress towards NQAS certification. Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Aonungdok Tushi Ao, deputy CMO, emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving 100 percent NQAS certification by December 2026.
He urged healthcare workers to actively engage, clarify doubts and contribute towards building a culture of quality in healthcare delivery.
Technical sessions covered key aspects of NQAS including measurement systems, prescription audits, quality tools, data management, gap analysis, patient satisfaction surveys, internal assessments and national health programmes.
A highlight was a video conference session with Edwina Periera, NQAS External Assessor, who shared national level perspectives and best practices.
Practical fire safety training was also conducted by personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, equipping participants with skills in handling extinguishers, LPG cylinders and emergency response.
The workshop concluded with discussions on action plans for strengthening healthcare services and achieving certification targets.
Sessions were facilitated by Dr. Aonungdok Tushi Ao, Ojungsangla (Staff Nurse, District Hospital Mon), both NQAS External Assessors, and Yeango, District Programme Manager (Quality Assurance).
Healthcare personnel from various facilities actively participated, reflecting collective commitment towards ensuring quality healthcare for all.
