
Fazl Ali College (FAC) Mokokchung, Research Development Committee organised a workshop on “research paper publications” on September 21.
In a press release, the college informed that Fazl Ali College vice principal R. Arenla Aier highlighted the significance and need of research-oriented activities and publications for academic institutions.
Resource persons of the workshop were associate professor, Dr. Suraiya Tabassum (Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi) and associate professor, Dr. Toka Swu (department of Chemistry, Pondicherry University).
In a presentation on “Social Science Research: An introduction and insights”, Dr. Suraiya Tabassum emphasised that social science research should explore, investigate, and incorporate policy recommendations in a wholesome way so that the researchers are able to draw light to the realities of the research subjects.
She talked about initiating research with motivation and clear intent of heart and mind to bring change in the social system.
Speaking on “Research Paper Publications – Perspectives in Science”, Dr. Toka Swu emphasised of the importance of foundational knowledge, gathered information on methodologies/techniques, and a positive attitude.
Dr Toka demonstrated the use of Mendeley App, a free citation tool, and Turnitin, for ease of referencing in research articles/reviews and to check plagiarism, respectively.
The sessions were hosted by assistant professor Dr Aotemshi I and assistant professor Dr. Imliwati Longkumer while participatory question and answer sessions were moderated by assistant professor Dr. Temjennaro Jamir and assistant professor Dr. Aolemla Pongener.
