Blood donation camps and awareness programs were held across Nagaland on June 14 to mark World Blood Donor Day under the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together we save lives”
DIMAPUR
A special program was held at District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) conference hall.
The event was organized in collaboration with HDFC Bank and other partners, bringing together healthcare professionals, students, and voluntary blood donors.
The program aimed to recognize and appreciate voluntary blood donors, acknowledge the contributions of supporters, and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. A total of 35 units were collected during the donation drive.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. T. Temsu Lemtur, served as the theme speaker. In his address, he expressed gratitude to participants, calling their presence a blessing.
He thanked HDFC Bank for its continued support in improving blood banking services and described the close bond he shares with the Blood Centre.
Short speeches were delivered by representatives of Lions Club Dimapur, Rotary Club Dimapur, Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU), and Bhojpuri Samaj. The welcome address was given by MO in-charge of Blood Centre, DHD Dr. Rongsen Lkr, and a special song was performed by DHD nursing school.
JCI Dimapur: JCI Dimapur Creators conducted a Blood Donation Camp at the District Hospital, Dimapur, on June 14, 2025.
The event was led by JCI Senator Bikram Das, president of JCI Dimapur Creators, and supported by a dedicated team including IPP JCI Senator Seema Bhowal, Growth Ambassador HGF Priyanka Nath, Secretary JFM Rajat Ghosh, VP Training JC Sagar Das, and Project chairperson JC Brij Kishore Rai.
JCI Dimapur Creators expressed gratitude to all vmembers and volunteers who actively contributed to the cause.
MOKOKCHUNG

MOKOKCHUNG: In Mokokchung, the camp was organized by the 12 Assam Rifles Hospital in collaboration with the Mokokchung District Voluntary Blood Donor Association. A total of 20 donors participated. Dr. Toshimenla Jamir, DTO and DPO Blood Safety Mokokchung, delivered the keynote address on the importance of blood donation.
PHEK

PHEK: In Phek, District Hospital and DISHA Unit Phek organized an event at Dr. Wethselo Memorial Hall, sponsored by the Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council. Guest speaker Dr. Temsulong Pongener, Sr. Specialist (Psychiatrist), emphasized that blood donation saves lives and debunked myths regarding side effects. Col. Iqbal Singh Dhillon of the 39th Assam Rifles highlighted India’s urgent need for blood donations. Sekho Veswu, assistant education and statistical secretary PTCSU, urged participants to turn blood donation into a movement rather than just an event.
PEREN
PEREN: Peren district observed the day with a program at CMTC Hall, Jalukie Town. Special guest Namdatbou, councillor of Jalukie Town Council, appreciated the voluntary donors and urged for more awareness at the village level. Talks on blood donation and its benefits were shared by Dr. Hedungkiebe, SMO DH Peren, and Dr. Ramheigum, MO FIARTC CHC Jalukie, while Rev. Fr. Francis, principal of St. Xavier College Jalukie, encouraged students to actively participate in donating blood.
MON
MON: In Mon, the District Hospital hosted the event in collaboration with Mon District Voluntary Blood Donation Association (MDVBDA) and DISHA. Guest speaker Wennyei Konyak, Deputy Commissioner, shared his personal experience of donating blood and urged others to contribute. Dr. Ponwang, MO and in-charge of Blood Bank, DH Mon, presented a session on donor eligibility, medical aspects, myths, and storage processes.
The events across districts saw participation from local leaders, health officials, voluntary organizations, students, and community representatives. The programs were jointly organized by various health and donor associations, with support from the Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council.
WOKHA

WOKHA: Wokha observed World Blood Donor Day at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH). Dr. Mhonchan N. Kithan, Medical Superintendent, called for increased voluntary blood donation and awareness. Senior Medical Officer and Pathologist Dr. Nzanthung Lotha spoke on the functions of blood, donor eligibility, and its benefits, encouraging youth participation.
