DIMAPUR: World Blood Donor Day was observed at the conference hall of District Hospital Dimapur with participation from representatives of various organisations, students from different institutions, voluntary blood donors and personnel of CRPF 78th Battalion, Zubza.
Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. George Thirah, delivered the vote of thanks and lauded the donors for their humanitarian spirit. He encouraged them to continue the goodwill mission of voluntary blood donation for the service of humanity.
Following the programme, a voluntary blood donation drive was conducted at the hospital’s blood centre. Marking the global observance, Nagaland Running Club (NRC), in collaboration with Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), organised a blood donation camp at CIHSR premises. NRC members came forward to voluntarily donate blood, championing the message of saving lives through voluntary donation.
Assam Rifles also conducted a blood donation drive at CIHSR on June 13, where 20 personnel donated blood to support the hospital’s blood bank. Officials noted that the contribution would strengthen reserves and help meet emergency medical requirements. CIHSR expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the donated blood would play a crucial role in saving lives during emergencies, surgeries and critical medical situations.
