“World Cancer Day” was observed in Peren on February 28 under the theme “We can, I can” at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, New Headquarter, Peren.
Exhorting the gathering DC Zarenthung Ezung, said that healthy lifestyle is very important and that Cancer is one of the leading causes of deaths. He said that awareness is the main tool and it is the duty of every individual to spread the message and raise the profile of cancer in people’s minds. Stating healthy living includes happiness which is one of the most important factors in maintaining a healthy life he called upon the medical department if they could utilize the church platform to create intensive awareness on health issues.
Dy. CMO Dr. Tiala in her address said that the “World Cancer Day” is observed worldwide and it’s been observed in Peren District for the first time. She emphasized on the point together we can fight Cancer and how everyone as collective or individuals can do their part to reduce the burden of cancer.
CMO Dr. Ngangshimeren, highlighted on why World Cancer Day is observed and its significance and about the symptoms of cancer, the main types of cancer, the risk factors and its prevention. He stated that the main aim is to create awareness and education, to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment about cancer, pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action. A total of 30 patients also availed the services provided.
