Phek observed “World Kidney Day” on March 13, 2025 at Dr. Wethselo T. Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek. The event, held under the theme “Are Your Kidneys Ok? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health,” featured Deputy Commissioner of Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam as the guest speaker.
Coinciding with “World Kidney Day” a Hemodialysis Center at DH Phek was inaugurated by DC Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Superintendent of Police Phek, Col. 39 Assam Rifle Phek, Officials from Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Kohima and other dignitaries.
DC in his speech said that Phek district was fortunate enough to get the Center which can save economical problem of the people at large. He said that it is was everyone responsibility to propagate the information to the community of the services available in the hospital.
In his keynote address, Joint Director & SPO PMNDP, Dr. Tinenlo James Katiwa, highlighted the objectives and operations of the PMNDP program. He also discussed the risk factors for kidney disease, its signs and symptoms, and important tips for maintaining kidney health.
Earlier, the program was chaired by SMO DH, Dr.Ngopelo Keviechu, dedicatory prayer by YD PTBC, Chivo Medeo and a song by Vetulu Veswu. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Along DH Phek.
