Along with the rest of the world, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), directorate of health and family welfare observed “World Malaria Day” under the theme “Ready to beat Malaria” at 10 localities across Dimapur district on April 25.
On the day, sanitation drive was carried out in the 10 localities. The drive was followed by health talks on malaria and malaria screening.
A press release from Dimapur district vector born disease stated that District Vector Borne Officer (DVBO) Dimapur, Dr. Temsusashi said India was on its way to eliminating Malaria by 2030. However, for Dimapur, the plan or vision is to achieve the target by 2022, Temsusashi stated. He also said that to achieve this goal, the participation of public was crucial.
World Malaria Day is commemorated every year on April 25 to recognize global efforts to control the disease. It gives people the chance to promote awareness or learn about the efforts made to prevent and reduce malaria around the world.
Thakhehu village council (TVC) also took the initiative of conducting a cleanliness drive within its jurisdiction as part of their participation in world malaria day.
