World Mental Health Day observed in Zunheboto, Wokha

Along with the rest of the world, District Mental Health Programmes (DMHPs) in Zunheboto and Wokha districts observed “World Mental Health Day” (WMHD) under the theme, “mental health in an unequal world” on October 10.

Zunehboto: DMHP Zunheboto observed WMHD at district hospital Zunheboto.

In a press release, DMHP Zunheboto informed that while speaking on the theme, clinical psychologist, DMHP Zunheboto, Atolimi I Khuzhumi stated that mental health was essential to the overall wellbeing and it is important as physical health. 

She emphasised on early recognition of mental illness and the important role of every individual in society in reducing the stigma and discrimination.

Atolimi stressed on how to be resilient and courageous to face stressful situations of life positively and also seek support on time and find solutions.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Psychiatric Social Worker DMHP Zunheboto, Khruvotolu Nyekha. Altogether, 34 healthcare workers attended the programme.

Wokha: DMHP observed WMHD at Sanis community hall. The programme was organised in collaboration with Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) and Sakhi-one Stop Centre Wokha at Sanis community hall with more than 50 participants. 

Speaking on the theme, DMHP clinical psychologist Amenla Longkumer stressed on the importance of mental health, warning signs of mental illness and measures to be taken to improve one’s mental health. 

She urged the participants to invest on mental health as both young and adults were affected, especially during the pandemic.

Amenla Longkumer also spoke on behavioural issues faced by people during the pandemic and impact of self-isolation on old people due to fear of the disease.

WDLSA lawyer Shanchobeni P. Lotha briefed on Mental Health Act and its importance for psychiatric patients. 

Meanwhile, central administrator, Sakhi One Stop Centre Renthunglo Kikon spoke on various services provided by the centre and the category of people who could avail the services.
