Along with the rest of the world, the world music day was celebrated in Dimapur and Kohima on June 21 2025. Here’s a roundup of key celebrations happened this year:
The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), under the Ministry of Culture, turned Dimapur into a vibrant hub of music and culture on Saturday as it joined the global celebration of World Music Day. The open-air Stone Sculpture Garden at the NEZCC complex resonated with sounds of rhythm, harmony, and regional pride as talented homegrown bands took the stage.
The event was more than just a musical evening—it was a celebration of Nagaland’s deep-rooted musical soul. With an aim to promote and support local talent, NEZCC brought together artists who captivated the crowd with their passion, originality, and cultural flavor.
Headlining the event was Symphonia, who set the tone for the evening with a powerful number in the Sümi dialect, earning cheers and applause from the enthusiastic audience. Their performance beautifully showcased how traditional language and modern music can blend seamlessly.
Up next was Tiameren, whose act added a rich layer of artistry to the evening. His unique style and stage presence kept the momentum going and the audience engaged.
Closing the show on a high note was The First Fret, a dynamic gospel band whose heartfelt music struck a spiritual chord. Their uplifting set wrapped up the evening with soulful energy. (Staff Reporter)
