The vibrant spirit of music echoed across Niuland Town as the 3rd Edition of World Music Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Niuland town clock tower on Sunday. The event was organized by Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA), Niuland District, in collaboration with the Niuland Area Youth Front (NAYF), bringing together music lovers, artists, and community leaders for an evening of cultural celebration and artistic expression.
The programme was graced by Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland Jacob Zhimomi, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the transformative power of music in society and its role in nurturing creativity, unity, and cultural identity. He encouraged young people to pursue their artistic passions with commitment and perseverance, emphasizing that music is not merely a form of entertainment but also a powerful medium for self-expression, inspiration, and positive social change.
“Music has the ability to bring people together beyond barriers of language, tribe, and background. Our youth possess immense talent, and with dedication and hard work, they can transform their passion into meaningful opportunities,” the Minister remarked. He further applauded TAFMA and the Niuland Area Youth Front for providing a platform that encourages local artists to showcase their abilities and contribute to the district’s growing cultural landscape.
The programme was hosted by Zhuvito Chishi, TAFMA District Partner, Niuland, who welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders involved in making the celebration a success.
A major highlight of the evening was the impressive lineup of local performers who captivated the audience with their musical talents. Artists featured in the celebration included:
Guest artist Vivi V. Yptho and Kivika A. Achumi with line up artist Amekali Yeptho, Swutoli Assumi, Shikali Zhimo, Hekato Sumi, Tolika H. Ayemi, Ilivi Assumi, District Band Niuland, Kilika Assumi, Kupuka Chishi and TKivipu Zhimo. The performers represented different parts of Niuland and delivered a variety of musical presentations, reflecting the district’s rich artistic diversity and growing pool of local talent.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 500 audience members, who gathered to witness the celebration and support the artists. The atmosphere was filled with energy and appreciation as each performance received warm applause from attendees.
Several dignitaries were also present, including the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, the Councillor of Niuland Town Council (NTC), and other esteemed guests from across the district, all of whom joined the community in celebrating the universal language of music. (Staff Reporter)
