A two-day workshop on the “World of Work (WoW)” for students from four PM SHRI schools in Nagaland commenced on Thursday at Kuda Youth Hall, Dimapur. The programme is being organized under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH), NCERT New Delhi, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and SCERT Nagaland.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on skill development, vocational exposure and experiential learning for secondary school students. It aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world application, preparing learners for the evolving demands of the 21st-century workplace.
Students from PM SHRI GHSS Chumukedima, PM SHRI GHS Naharbari, PM SHRI GHS Burma Camp and PM SHRI GHS Thahekhu are participating in the workshop. The sessions are designed to introduce students to diverse career pathways, including those mapped under 36 job sectors by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), as well as emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, green technologies, and creative industries.
The inaugural session was chaired by assistant district coordinator, District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha Dimapur, Freda Angami. Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of early vocational orientation and skill-building. She noted that initiatives like WoW are helping students make informed career choices beyond traditional academics.
A special video message from Head and CEO, PARAKH, NCERT, Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, was also shared during the session. Prof. Bhaduri highlighted the need to integrate skill-based learning and experiential assessments into mainstream education, encouraging educators to provide hands-on learning opportunities and project-based experiences.
