World PhysiotherapyDay observed at NHAK

DIMAPUR

Department of Physiotherapy, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), in collaboration with Kohima Physiotherapists Unit, observed World Physiotherapy Day on September 8 under the theme “Healthy Ageing – focusing on fall and frailty prevention.”
As part of the observance, a free health camp was organised at the hospital premises from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., aimed at creating awareness on the role of physiotherapy in promoting healthy ageing and reducing risks associated with frailty and falls among the elderly.
Physiotherapists highlighted that ageing increases vulnerability to joint stiffness, osteoporosis, arthritis, and mobility challenges. They emphasised that physiotherapy interventions such as therapeutic exercises, pain management, postural correction, and balance training help older adults maintain strength, flexibility, and independence.
The programme underscored the importance of active lifestyles and physiotherapy in supporting dignified and healthy ageing.
