
Along with the rest of the world, Nagaland State Veterinary Council (NSVC), department of veterinary & animal husbandry and Kohima Municipal Council, observed “world rabies day” by administering free anti rabies vaccination at various locations in Kohima.
Nagaland state veterinary council president, Dr. David Sema officially launched the programme at Veterinary Hospital, Kohima.
Anti-rabies vaccination camps were conducted at Pezielietsie (Tinpatti), High School area, KMC office, Agri/Forest, Chandmari, Lerie and Indoor Stadium.
The day was observed under the aegis of Nagaland State Veterinary Council, department of veterinary & animal husbandry and Kohima Municipal Council.
Dr. David in his address sought collaborative effort in containing rabies adding that department was trying its best to control rabies.
He reminded the gathering that rabies was dangerous and dreadful disease.
He also informed that as per 2012 census, state registered 1, 13, 021 dogs.
Nagaland State Veterinary Council registrar Dr. I.P. Khala also speaking on the occasion said the objective of observing World Rabies Day was to contain rabies.
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) superintendent Zakiekhotuo Kiso said KMC will soon initiate registration of all dogs for the first time in Kohima. To this, he made a fervent appealed to the panchayats and veterinary & animal husbandry department to extend necessary support towards the success of the registration process.
KMC would also be initiating training and seminar on rabies, where two persons from each ward would be trained, Zakiekhotuo said.
The launching programme concluded with vote of thanks by chief veterinary & AH officer, Kohima, Dr. Vivotuo Miachieo.
DIMAPUR: World rabies day was also observed at Dimapur, organized by veterinary, animal & husbandry department at veterinary hospital with DC Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) as chief guest. Speaking at the brief function, Yhome called upon business community and stake holders to work cohesively towards eradicating the deadly “rabies” disease and for its prevention by utilising the available resources, technology and technical know-how. He encouraged the public and residents of Dimapur to get the vital information from the concern department so as to enhance their knowledge about the disease and its related problems.
He also encouraged the department and staff to continue with their commendable service despite setbacks and frustrations which they may face in the course of their work.
Earlier, the programme was compeered by deputy C.V.O Dimapur, Dr.Asenuo Linyu, invocation by D.L.D.O Dimapur, Dr Imomanen. 402 dogs were vaccinated.
Kiphire: Department of veterinary and animal husbandry, Kiphire conducted free anti-rabies vaccination. Altogether 250 dogs were vaccinated on the day.
Longleng: Altogether 207 dogs were vaccinated on the occasion of world rabies day at Longleng.
The event was organized by department of veterinary and animal husbandry.
Zunheboto: On the occasion, department of veterinary and animal husbandry Zunheboto administered free anti-rabies vaccination to around 200 pet animals. The department is disseminating the importance of zoonotic disease as many people are now keeping pets at home.
