World Tourism Day observed across Nagaland

Along with the rest of the world, the World Tourism Day was celebrated across Nagaland on September 27.
In Tseminyu, the programme held to commemorate the day was graced by minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along as special guest.


According to DIPR report, the event was hosted by Jwenga Seb, MLA. The program featured a speech by Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, and president of NATO. At a programme, a special performance was delivered by Rounole Tep.


In his speech, host of the event, shared the vision of Tseminyu district, aiming to transform it into a model integrated and ecologically sustainable tourism district within the state. The vision encompasses the preservation of natural biodiversity resources, as well as the promotion of cultural and historical heritage.
The program was chaired by Keduose-u, director of Tourism, and featured a keynote address by Nchumbemo Lotha, secretary Tourism department. Vote of thanks was delivered by Veyielo Doulo, Additional Director of Tourism.


On the occasion, leaders of Kasha Daho, submitted a memorandum to minister Temjen Imna Along.
Kasha Daho comprised of eight villages, covering an area of about 70 sq.km.


The memorandum included, construction of Tourist Rest House, upgradation to Primary Health Centre (PHC), creation of an additional EAC headquarters, establishment of a Model College and land allocation. The ultimatum was signed by president, Kasha Daho Er. Kegwachu Tep and convenor, Kasha Daho Development Committee’s, Er. Tesinlo Semy.


Longkhum Tourism website launched

Coinciding with the “World Tourism Day”, the ‘Longkhum Tourism Website’, sponsored by late. Dr. Longrizung Trust, was virtually launched, at the Tourist Lodge Longkhum, by senior tourism officer, Mokokchung, Imtisenla Pongener on Wednesday.


Delivering the introductory note on behalf of the sponsor, L Alemtemsu Longkumer son of son of late Dr. Longrizung said that the trust has been actively providing health care camps where there were less medical facilities, and awarded one time honorarium to every Longkhum student who qualified for MBBS.
Longkumer also said that Dr. I Longrizung Excellence award has been accorded to two students of Fazl Ali College.


On the sponsorship and promotion of the Longkhum Tourism Website, Longkumer said that the trust was willing to sponsor a tourism receptionist with salary for five years to provide tourism related trainings to the villagers.
The trust has also donated a computer set with printer to utilize for tourism related data collection and management.


The website was designed by Technology Entrepreneur & Founder Director, Tabernacle Technologies Private Limited, Er. Atoba Longkumer (grandson of late. Dr. Longrizung). He expressed joy in getting an opportunity to contribute towards the development of his village, Longkhum.


The launching programme was chaired by Tsungtaluba Imchen and welcome note was delivered by Longkhum village council chairman, C Angang. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Longkhum Tourism Committee member, Rongpangwati. Interested individuals can log in to www.explorelongkhum.com.


State IHM Dimapur: In line with this year’s theme, “Tourism and Green Investment,” State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) Dimapur celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27 at its campus premise.
The distinguished guests included chairman of the Purana Bazaar ‘B’ Village Council, Echungbemo Humtsoe, and student union leaders from Diphupar, Western Sumi, ASU, DNSU, Chakhroma, NSF, ENSF, Ao Student Conference, Chakhesang, Chumoukedima village, and Chumoukedima Town.


The event highlighted the urgent need for a sustainable planet and highlighted how eco-tourism significantly benefits Nagaland’s rich cultural diversity.
Showcasing the state’s vibrant heritage, students adorned in traditional attire presented cultural dances and songs, representing the diverse tribes of Nagaland which intertwined a relationship between tourism, culture, and sustainability.


Immanuel College: Yuva Tourism Club of Immanuel College, Dimapur on September 27 organised an Essay Competition on account of World Tourism Day under the theme “Tourism and Green Investments” at the College premises.


In the competition, Limakumla of Department of Botany, secured the first prize in the competition while Rugoseno Dolie of Department of English received the second prize. Students from various Departments and Yuva Tourism Club participated in the competition.
