Worskhop on deceased organ donation conducted

Zublee Foundation, in collaboration with North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi), conducted the first grassroot-level workshops on deceased organ donation under Project VARDAAN (Chapter IV) on February 13 to 15, at the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), Kohima College, and Alder College.

The initiative was aimed to transform perceptions and foster life-saving conversations around organ donation in the state. With organ donation awareness still in its early stages in Nagaland, these workshops mark a crucial step toward bridging the knowledge gap and encouraging acceptance of this noble cause.

Project VARDAAN, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by NEDFi, has been instrumental in spreading awareness across the Northeast region, empowering communities with vital information about deceased organ donation.

Speaking at the workshops, Priyanka Borah, CEO of Zublee Foundation, described the initiative as a “proud moment,” emphasizing that the journey toward making organ donation a widely accepted practice begins with informed discussions at the grassroots level.

She highlighted the overwhelming response from students and faculty at all three institutions, reflecting a growing interest in the cause. At the workshop, Professor Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, Dean and Director of NIMSR, has pledged to donate her organs and tissues.

Her commitment serves as an inspiration for students and faculty members, reinforcing the importance of organ donation as a life-saving act. NIMSR has also introduced student-led field activities to ensure continued awareness and engagement in the region. Zublee Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding this noble cause.
